Just to build on that welcome, there should be a sense of urgency today on the part of all in this country who profess to care about the quality of our education. Clearly, there are many pressing issues facing all of us and, specifically, incoming President Obama. Yet it is our feeling that letting investment in education slip too far down the priority chain will come back to haunt all of us, even if we are successful in staving off the worst possible outcomes of our immediate economic crisis.

Indeed! Now we need to generate a dialogue, create that community of concerned citizens to have positive impacts on the new administration.
